Pulaski Heights Middle’s building originated in 1913. Homes.com grades Central High A and Forest Park A− (Niche). LRSD redrew its high-school zones in 2026 ahead of Little Rock West High School’s opening in fall 2027 — re-verify high-school assignments at purchase. Private options serving the neighborhood: Mount St. Mary Academy (girls, Catholic; founded 1851; on Kavanaugh in Hillcrest since 1908), Catholic High School for Boys (founded 1930; just across University Avenue) and The Anthony School.

History in eight facts
1. In 1891 the Pulaski Heights Land Company — Michigan investors led by attorneys H. F. Auten and Edgar Moss — bought 800 acres northwest of Little Rock for $80,000; the first ten blocks were platted in 1892.
2. In 1902 the Country Club of Little Rock was founded — before the suburb was even a town — on a hilltop site that required a streetcar route and a carved road to reach.
3. In 1903 an electric streetcar line was extended up Prospect Avenue (now Kavanaugh Boulevard), and slow growth ended. (1903 is the streetcar year — some sources wrongly give it as the incorporation year.)
4. In 1904 the streetcar company opened Forest Park, a 40-acre amusement park at the end of the line — pool and bathhouse, dance pavilion, merry-go-round, horse racing track. It closed in 1919; its stone entrance columns and wall still stand at Kavanaugh and N. Pierce.
5. On August 1, 1905, Pulaski Heights incorporated — the date given by the Encyclopedia of Arkansas and the neighborhood’s 2009 historical marker (“an incorporated municipality from 1905 until 1916”).
6. On January 4, 1916, Little Rock voters approved annexation by a ten-to-one margin; Pulaski Heights became the city’s Ninth Ward. Cantrell Road is the line between its two halves, The Heights (north) and Hillcrest (south).
7. In 1946 the Heights Theater opened at 5600 Kavanaugh Boulevard (~850 seats; twinned later). It showed movies until 1985, then converted to a retail store.
8. On March 31, 1960, a B-47 bomber from Little Rock Air Force Base exploded over the neighborhood; three of four crew members and two civilians on the ground were killed, and debris damaged numerous houses.
Also on the documented record: the Encyclopedia of Arkansas notes that Pulaski Heights was developed with racially restrictive covenants — lots restricted by race — and that the area remains one of the least racially diverse neighborhoods in Little Rock.
